When God Gets His Knife Out (Don’t Run!)

St. John 15:1-8

“I AM the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more   fruitful.  3. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4. Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5. I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  7. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.  8. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

When God Gets His Knife Out (Don’t Run!)

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 tells us there is a time and season for everything. There is a time to bear fruit, and a time to be cut back. Pruned branches look poor and barren – like nothing’s going on. But the very act of being cut back prepares vines to be more fruitful.  The time for us to dream supernatural dreams is when we are in a barren or lean season.  Rejoice when you’re cut back, because it’s the forerunner to your more fruit season!

What Dry Seasons Look Like

This is what a dry season looks like: You might have been cut off from your job.  A relationship you depended on has ended.  Perhaps you lost someone you cared for very much like a parent, sibling, a son or daughter.  You have more bills than money in the bank and your home is going into foreclosure.  If you are in Christ, this is when you should be getting your praise on.  My sister told me a long time ago, when you have a pity party you kiss the devil.  Look back over you life and review from whence you have come.  It is in the most difficult times in your life that strengthen your faith.  If you never had problems, you would never experience the full depths of God’s mercy and His powerful ability to turn your situation around.  Remember: “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5) So don’t look down and cry; look up and rejoice! Your day is coming!

The More Fruit Season Happens in Business, Too

In the business world there is a theory: The speed of the leader determines the speed of accomplishments for the group that is led.  In the spirit realm, it’s the anointing of the leadership that determines the accomplishment of the church.  If the anointing on the Pastor or Bishop is pure, the church membership will be able to accomplish even supernatural things. Here is a true example: Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministry in Virginia,  is under the anointed leadership of Bishop Daniel Robertson and Elena Robertson.  This is a debt free church.  According to Isaiah 10:27, God moved to allow the church to pay off $1.6 Million in three months and one week. This happened on Resurrection Sunday 2012, while the nation was in the midst of a deep recession.  From God’s house, to my house and yours, this same debt-free anointing is available.

Your challenges lead you to your more fruit season.  To those who are connected, the more fruit season will come.  The favor of God is great.  To be blessed of God is the highest state of favor.  The more fruit season means to be blessed in deed, blessed exceedingly, abundantly above and beyond all you don’t see coming.  To be blessed in deed is greater than your faith can believe.

Ready, Set, OUCH!

God wants you to bear more fruit.  In St. John 15:2 God gets his knife out and starts cutting away branches that don’t bear fruit as well as branches the bear fruit. This is so you can bear more fruit. There are several rose bushes around my home. I prune them down every winter.  When spring comes, they are more robust and healthier than the year before.  Through your set backs and disappointments, God is laying out the table for your more fruit season.

I ask you: Are you willing to be pruned?  Praise God during your pruning season.  Losing stuff is the sign that better is coming.  Forsake comfort for your destiny in Christ. Bearing more fruit requires pruning.  In many ways, pruning is a mind trip.  Being productive then loosing a job is really being cut-off.  When doors of opportunity closed, it looks like you are going backwards.  But a set back is just a set up for blessings.

Double for Your Trouble

Expect to receive double for your trouble (Isaiah 61:1-7).  Isaiah 46:9-10 (NIV) gives us these reassuring words: “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient time, what is still to come.”

Friends, we don’t have any thing to worry about, because God takes us through to the end.  There is no guess work with God.  Jeremiah 29:11 says: Behold I know, says the Lord, the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.  Plans for a hope and a future.

Of Mules & Men

I will end this post with a story about a farmer and his mule.  There once was a farmer that had a mule.  One day when the farmer was out in the field, the mule accidentally fell into a well.  The farmer was alone and the only equipment he had was a shovel.  He tried to no avail to rescue the mule.  Finally, he decided to bury the mule.  So, the farmer began filling the well with dirt. Some time passed and to his amazement, the mule walked out of the well.  The moral of the story is: the dirt the enemy has thrown on you was ment to bury you, but God will allow you to use the dirt as a stairway out of the hole you’re in. In faith, the Lord will use your set backs as a set-up that will allow you walk out of your pit into the destiny of your blessing. Indeed.

So make like the mule: Shake the dirt off and use it to walk out of your pit. Okay?
